Ford Focus hatchback (2011-2014) review: owner reviews "The Focus is great to drive, full of technology and very refined, but a small boot means it’s not the most practical five-door around." The first case of this came with the Ford Focus vehicles that were manufactured between 1998 and 2004. The complication was identified in models with 1.6 liter engines. The second most notable occasion when such a scenario happened was when the Ford Focus models built between 2012 and 2014 also experienced the same problem. I've recently purchased a 1.6 petrol Zetec Focus (73,000 miles, manual transmission) which has been running fine up until recently when I've noticed it starting to idle roughly. I had just assumed the car was in need for a service so I booked it in for a full service last week. Unfortunately the new oil, spark plugs and filters have not done 6. Dirty throttle body. Dirty throttle body can also be the cause of slow acceleration in your Ford Focus. The common signs of dirty throttle body are poor engine performance, erratic idle, the engine react poorly to movements of the accelerator pedal, and the engine sputters or stalls. 1. response. Some time usually in cold mornings car turns over but wont start will start after several tries, but once starts doesnt happen not all the time. i have replaced fuel pump and filter fuel sensor, worked fine for about week and starting to act up again. 2006 Ford Focus 2.4. Posted: Apr 8, 2012. I was hoping for some advice on a problem my mother-in-law is having with her 2002 Focus. She has an intermittent fault where the car will turn over and not start. I've managed to identify that this is down to the fuel pump not supplying fuel. When you turn the ignition on, the pump isn't priming. Occasionally this has been down to a blown fuse 4XF78a. The engine is very tappety on start up and even after a good run it still isn't perfect. When servicing the car i noticed there was a lot of oil in the air box so the engine is obviously pressrising somewhere and blowing oil out the breather pipe. Ford 1.5 EcoBoost Engine Problems Summary The 1.5L EcoBoost made its debut in 2014 as a slightly smaller variant of the older 1.6 EcoBoost. It offers a great all-around balance of price, fuel economy, reliability, and performance. 181 horsepower may not be enticing to some, but it’s plenty of power for many Focus, Fusion, and Escape owners. So I suspect that is a red herring, maybe a side effect of the diagnostic process. You need to be able to read the error code (DTCs) as soon as the problem happens. Some codes go away very quickly, while others last a long time. Forscan is ideal, as it reads almost all known Ford codes. 18966 posts · Joined 2011. #2 · Jun 10, 2014 (Edited by Moderator) i believe disconnecting the low pressure switch and jumping the 2 terminals in the connector will cause the ac clutch to kick in, and the rpm rise, the fans should also kick in if the engine is warm (ish). Only do this as a quick test :L. Some info on the software update is here: But it looks like that was a temporary or partial solution to the noisy combustion.
